The Wellesley Food Pantry is dedicated to “Helping those in need”.
The Wellesley Food Pantry has provided supplemental and emergency food to Wellesley residents in need since 1989. The Food Pantry is staffed and managed by volunteers, and supported by the community efforts of local religious and civic organizations, scout troops, schools, businesses, and concerned individuals.
While at Cushing Memorial Park in Framingham, MA for our daily walk this morning, we came upon a Veterans Day remembrance event. It was a remembrance like many others celebrated in cities and towns across the United States today.
While there we talked to an 88 year old veteran of the Korean War who proudly showed us his Purple Heart. He was quite a character who told jokes and was sure to mention that he was married for 62 years. On a more somber note he said “I was just doing my duty”.
On November 11th, the Modifiers Car Club would like to honor all United States Veterans with a special thanks to our own club member veterans. Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day” on Nov. 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and Nov. 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938. In 1954 Armistice Day was renamed as Veterans Day. Continue reading →
