Natick’s Auto Manufacturing Story

Here’s some very interesting history regarding auto manufacturing in Natick. Two vehicles were manufactured in Natick. The Goodnow electric car which was produced in a machine shop on North Main Street and from 1918 to 1925 the Northway Motor Company plant was at the old Walker Grove, a sprawling 30-acre manufacturing campus, now the site of the Massachusetts State National Guard Depot on Speen Street.

Dates to Save in 2017

At last nights Modifiers Car Club monthly meeting the members finalized dates for some exciting club happenings in 2017.

  • Year End Party – February 19th from 1 pm – 5 pm at the Wellesley Community Center. 
  • Modifiers Car Club Dust-Off – April 23rd at CJ’s Northside Grill on Edgel Road in Framingham. 
  • Modifiers Car Show – September 16th at the Wellesley Community Center. with a rain date set for September 23rd

As we get closer to the dates, details for these events will be shared with the club members….so stay tuned.

2017 is shaping up to be banner year for the Modifiers Car Club so get ready to “Start Your Engines”!


Looking Back at 2016 and Forward to 2017

2016 was another eventful year for the Modifiers Car Club.  Here are some of the club highlights from 2016.

April – The Modifiers car shows / events calendar started in April with our dust-off at CJ’s Northside in Framingham. It was great to get the cars out, enjoy some good music and feast on delicious drive-in fare. 

May – It was a cold windy day in May for the Mass Bay Community College car show but that didn’t defer members from bundling up and getting their babies out. It was a beautiful day on May for the Wheels of Wellesley car show. Members met at the Morse Tavern in Natick, MA for the short ride down Route 135 / 16 to the car show at the Wellesley Community Center. What a sight it was to see 13 collector cars rumbling down the highway past Wellesley College, through Wellesley Center and over Route 9. Continue reading →
